Seminars

The Institute for Social Entrepreneurs currently offers three versions (90 minutes, three hours and six hours) of Jerr Boschee’s highly acclaimed seminar entitled “Social Enterprise: The Promise and the Perils.” Thousands of people have attended the seminar during the past three decades. The purpose of the seminar is to provide a non-threatening introduction to the basic principles and critical success factors associated with entrepreneurial strategies for nonprofits.

"Jerr's expertise and enthusiasm for the principles of social entrepreneurship are rooted deeply in his commitment to mission. He brings understanding and credibility to the process of applying entrepreneurial principles to the management of nonprofit organizations. He is a very spirited presenter, and his spirit is contagious to his audience. Jerr presents the issues around social entrepreneurship in a very practical style in a way that helps you sort out which route may be right for your organization."

In many cases, the seminars at which Mr. Boschee appears also provide one or both of the following:

  • A panel of nonprofit entrepreneurs from the local community who describe their experiences in the field and share the most important lessons they’ve learned

  • Small group discussions to help attendees identify whatever entrepreneurial opportunities and obstacles might exist in their own organizations
